Loren's eLiterate

I like all sorts of genres, and I love a good series. However, I dislike books that portion the story out to readers in a serialized fashion over several volumes, and I refuse to buy them.

Promise Cove (Pelican Pointe #1) - Vickie McKeehan I enjoyed this very much. While there were a few cliches interspersed throughout the book, Ms. McKeehan resolves most of them in a refreshingly non-cliched way. Nick and Jordan made a good couple, and the additional guidance given to Nick by a unique secondary character could have turned into a treacly mess, yet again, McKeehan avoided that trap. I was disappointed that we didn't get to see Sissy get her public comeuppance, but that was a minor niggle.

Hutton and Dog were cute without becoming sappy, and Lilly and her kids were nice additions who added to, but didn't overwhelm, the story.
